The strength of the Integrated Life Skills Group is our diverse experience and expertise. We understand that youth and students must travel many roads to reach success. Students learn in a multisystemic environment- family, peers, school, neighborhood, and cultural system, including social media. Therefore, an effective approach to learning must reflect the lived reality of the student and person.

Given this, we have pulled together frontline staff: juvenile justice, education, mental health, child welfare (foster care), youth and parents, and those in the social science field to write this book—all of whom make up Integrated Life Skills Group.

If a community is healthy — if it is safe, supportive, and teaming with opportunities — it will have the elements that youth and students need to thrive. Therefore, character strengths, life skills, learning strategies, and study habits and skills are the main ingredients for effective learning and producing success. We recognize that creating better futures for youth and students will not be possible unless we consider all the elements that produce success.

Finally, we recognize that for once, a total solution is required for youth and students to be successful and thrive. For this reason, we wrote this easy-to-read book.
